Can I register as free agent?
Yes. USATH strives to maximize the capability of athletes to participate.
Players will be placed by offering their participation to the clubs requesting additional players. Should sufficient unaffiliated players be available, particularly from the same region, a full separate team will be organized.
What is the format of the championships?
Bringing together clubs from across the United States and abroad, the U.S. Open Championships will once again showcase the best of domestic and international club handball competition, while serving as a key competitive milestone within the USA Team Handball calendar.
How can I register my team?
Initial Registration Deadline: April 24, 2026
Late Registration Window (with fee): April 25 – May 4, 2026

What are the tournament dates?
the 2026 U.S. Open Team Handball Championships will take place May 14–17, 2026. Men’s Elite Division will start on the 14th all others on the 15th of May.
Where will the championships be held?
The 2026 U.S. Open Team Handball Championships will be held in Bettencourt, Iowa at the TBK Bank Sports Complex
What are the eligibility requirements?
To participate in the 2026U.S. Open Team Handball Championships, athletes must be at least 16 years old and meet the specific criteria set by their respective teams and USA Team Handball Federation. This includes being a registered member of a recognized handball club and adhering to the competition rules established by the organizing committee.

Support the National Team at the North American and Caribbean Championships
Running in parallel, the Quad Cities will also host the NACHC Men’s Senior Continental Championship and IHF World Championship Qualifier from May 12–16, 2026.
This unique alignment creates an unprecedented opportunity for players, coaches, and fans to experience both elite club competition and international national team play in a single venue.
Teams registering for the U.S. Open will have the option within the Sport80 platform to secure ticket allotments for these international matches as part of their registration.
