Tournament Format

ALL Divisions: 2×25 with 7 minute Halftime; 2 timeouts per game
Semifinals and 1st/3rd place games: 2×30 with 10 minute Halftime; 3 timeouts per game

Tie Breaker Rules

Match evaluation Preliminary round / main round / placement round

The preliminary round is played in groups. The matches shall be evaluated as follows:

Teams are ranked according to the total number of points gained.

If two or more teams have gained the same number of points (PTS) after the group matches have been completed, classification is decided as follows:

  • results in points between the teams concerned (H-H PTS)
  • goal differences in the matches between the teams concerned (H-H GD)
  • greater number of plus goals in the matches between the teams concerned. (H-H GF)

If the teams are still equal, a decision is made between those teams with equal number of points as follows:

  • goal difference is subtracted in all matches (GD)
  • greater number of plus goals in all matches. (GF)

If classification still is not possible, a draw shall decide. The representative on site shall execute the draw, if possible in the presence of the responsible team officials.

Placement matches, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals

After completion of the preliminary, main and placement rounds, the placement matches, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals shall be played in accordance with the knock-out system.

In case of a draw at the end of the regular playing time, after a break of five (5) minutes there is a first overtime period of 2 x 5 minutes, changing sides half way through with a one-minute break in-between.

Provisions to the contrary set for individual tournaments shall be given priority.

If the match should still not be decided after this overtime period, after a break of 5 minutes there shall be a second overtime period of 2 x 5 minutes, changing sides half way through with a one- minute break in-between.

Should the match still not be decided after the second overtime period, it is decided with 7m penalty throws in accordance with Rule 2:2 of the Rules of the Game.

Round-Robin Placement Rules

Following the round-robin period in Men’s Open Division, teams will be ranked from 1-9 following the official tiebreaker rules.

  • Teams ranked 1st and 2nd in the group phase will advance to the ranking stage.
  • Teams ranked 1-3 will have finished 1st in their groups
  • Teams in the ranking stage are ranked 1-6 with teams not advancing ranked 7-9 based on performance and tiebreak procedures.
  • Teams ranked 1-2 will proceed to the semifinals of their division.
  • Teams ranked 3-6 will play quarterfinal matches, with the team granted the 3-seed playing the team granted the 6-seed. The 4-seed shall play against the 5-6 seed.
  • The 1-seed will play the winner of the 4-5 game in the Semifinals, and the 2-seed will play the winner of the 3-6 game.
  • Teams seeded 7-9 will play classification games against each other.
